Desert Foothills United Methodist
The new master plan for this growing suburban church in the south foothills of Phoenix, Arizona anticipates a 600 seat sanctuary with associated classrooms, multipurpose areas, chapel, and support spaces, designed around a central courtyard and outdoor activity areas.
The 9300 SF first two phases includes a multipurpose worship area for 300, gathering space, administration, adult and children’s classrooms, and kitchen. First phase site development provides parking, landscaping, utilities, and grading for the total build-out.
Covenant Pre-School Rio Rancho
This prototype pre-school is the first of its kind in New Mexico, a 12,140 square foot facility located in the fast growing bedroom community to Albuquerque. Designed for 190 students, the school consists of ten classrooms, kitchen, administration, and support spaces. Each classroom is arranged for flexibility, efficiency, neatness, and safety. The plan incorporates the same successful arrangement of classes as the smaller first school in Albuquerque--a conservative Christian program of excellence and achievement.
The design of the school juxtaposes playful entry forms off the solid masonry walls and integrates colorful window shading canopies. The interior activity spaces are bright, colorful and cheerful, and the high ceiling circulation spaces include the school’s logo in large, colorful, wall panels. The outdoor playground consists of separate areas for children, toddlers and crawlers.
First United Methodist Church
The First United Methodist Church in Albuquerque undertook a farsighted and ambitious building program, including a new 10,500 s.f. classroom and daycare center, extensive remodeling of the administrative area, improvements in the building circulation, revamping and enlarging the existing kitchen, and an upgrade of the landscaping and parking for the almost one-block-square site.
A new “Great” wall of stone with decorative grillwork visually reconciles the Gothic Revival style of the 1904 Old Church with the Mission/Romanesque style of the 1955 New Sanctuary.
